Current Day: Year 5-5020
It's been 5020 rotations around Fifth Earth's star since the day humans arrived. In the wake war, billions of souls, including the neutral hobbit race and the rebel humans, had to leave the continent. Everyone knew that there was no way that they could actually live with the crystal people full time. They never had any food and there seemed to be no sign of any animals to hunt during any of their visits.
...
The exiled people took to their ships and set course in two different directions. One fleet, made mostly of native races and some humans, set their sites on the magical land of fairies and other magical creatures. There, they would learn to reconnect with nature and forsake the evils of technology. The second fleet, comprised of mostly humans and some natives, made their way toward the mountainous monster ridden continent. There, they would combine the best parts of technology and nature to survive and eventually find harmony.
The dense land of magical forests was not very forgiving of the newcomers. They had to seek out other intelligent life in order to learn the ways of survival. The fairy folk took in the elves, teaching them the ways of natural magic. The goblins took a liking to the brutish dwarves and taught them trickster magic in exchange for physical protection. The humans identified with the wizards, whom practically looked just like themselves aside from being taller than normal humans with sharper facial features. The wizards shared secrets of inner magic with the humans, creating the first witches and warlocks. The hobbits took to the depths of the forests and built homes high inside the trees.
The mountainous land of monsters stood little chance against the technology wielding fleet of refugees. Settling down rather quickly on the shores, they easily hunted for game and began raising crops. The occasional attacks by mountain trolls were a nuisance as they would come pound on the sides of buildings. The peaceful solution was to capture them with large nets and transport them to an isolated zones warded off with sturdy metal walls. The true threat was the occasional dragon attack that would wreck havoc. Eventually, they built land to air weaponry that would easily shoot down a dragon. After a few unfortunately necessary dragon deaths, the dragons quit flying near to cities and stick to the depths of the mountains. Hobbits happily set up villages along the roads between cities, providing hospitality to travelers.
Today, the technology loving humans have turned their entire continent into one giant efficient super city. The land of magic is divided into separate kingdoms. And the mountainous continent is lined with numerous nations that control the shorelines, with the wild lands in the center.
The only time anyone from these three continents see one another is when they are visiting the crystal people. The tension runs high when they run across one another, but it is prohibited to start conflict anywhere in front of the crystal people as they will take swift action to literally send flying anyone who starts trouble. Otherwise, these three continents are self sufficient and have no need to communicate with one another.
