Continents and Regions
The setting of this world is divided into four main continents: Crystallus, Tekhnologia, Hybrida, and Legenda. Each continent is divided into five different regions.
Continents and regions both have a description of their physical environment and a short recap of their history. As mentioned in the "The Passage of Time" thread, there are no variations in weather based on time of year; whatever the description of said location says, applies year around. Also, each continent and region has its own thread for summarizing new plot developments; this is where we tie all the different user generated stories together. As this community grows, I will have to ask for help keeping these summaries up to date. This is the path to becoming a Moderator, if that is something that interests you.
When starting a new story, the GM of that story will create a thread in the region that the story is taking place. It is actually possible to change locations mid story; just start a new thread in the region of your choice and drop a link to the new thread for everyone to follow. Make sure everyone involved with the story is aware of the move so that you don't leave anyone behind in an empty thread.
There will also be a free range area within each region in which everyone can interact without worrying about a driving plot. This is mostly just a way for your character to meet others naturally and build bonds. BUT, just because this area is not as structured as a focused story, does not mean that it won't affect the regional, continental, or even global plot. I will be reading these interactions and looking for plot moving material, just the same as reading any story.
When you are creating a character in this RP, you are forced to choose a "homeland". Just because your character is from one location does not mean that your first story has to take place there, nor does it mean that your character even lives or visits there on a regular anymore. Perhaps in your character's biography, we find that he/she moved away at some point and never intends on returning.
