ONE MONTH = ONE QUARTER YEAR
The time line of this RP is just as important to the setting as the locations. Standardizing the passage of time, is another way to tie everyone's stories together, but it can be a little tricky. So read carefully, and feel free to direct any questions to the Q&A board.
One month in the real world will equal a quarter year in this RP. To make this make sense, let's assume that this planet orbits around it's star and rotates about three times faster than our Earth. For the sake of familiarity, let's say that every quarter of a year in game has three months that each have four weeks consisting of seven days. You may also assume that the planet has little to no axis tilt, meaning that seasons are not a factor. The weather patterns described within the descriptions of each continent are consistent year around in this world.
Now, here is the curve ball. Aside from one month equaling a quarter of a year, there are no restrictions to how long a story can drag out. You can spend all month writing a story that only lasts a day within the RP. You can spend the all month writing a story that spans the entire quarter year, most likely through a series of time skips that everyone agrees upon. You can even write a story that you only spend one week writing in the real world that spans across multiple weeks. Just be sure to communicate with your co-writers and agree on the pace of your stories before hand. Everyone should agree on how often you all plan on posting per week and how long the story line will stretch. On the first of the month, in the real world, game time will skip forward one quarter of a year. So, the story must come to a conclusion at this time.
On or shortly after the first, I will write short summaries that tie together the plots of everyone's' stories. Major plot changes that effect the entire planet will be posted in the Plot Summary Board . Plot changes that only effect the respective continents and regions in which they happened will be updated respectively. In time, I may have to ask dedicated members to start writing summaries for the continents and eventually the regions, while I focus only on global plot changes. This depends on how large we grow as a community.
TIME COMMITMENT: The awesome thing about this site is that you can invest as much or as little time as you like and still get a fun experience. All you need to do is make sure that anyone you are writing with is okay with writing at the same pace. Also, because all stories come to an end by the end of the month, you have a chance every month to reevaluate how much time you want to commit.
I hope this game mechanic is clear enough. As I mentioned in the beginning, questions can be asked in the Q&A board.
